It's very rare that Viddler ever uses a system-wide read-only mode. The only instances in our history are when upgrading our server infrastructure. Here are some details on what to expect if we ever mention having a brief (minutes or hours) period in read-only mode.
All videos will play on viddler.com and any sites they're embedded.
Customers and their users will not be able to upload content to Viddler. This is the case for uploading through the web and/or the API. If your users are uploading through our API, then we recommend you setup error reporting and display an error when an upload fails (whether because we're in read-only mode, or an unsupported file type is uploaded).
All video titles, descriptions, tags, permission settings, etc. will be visible and function as expected. They cannot be updated while Viddler is in read-only mode.
All account settings will function as expected. No changes can be made while Viddler is in read-only mode.
